Dot Voting Tool
Give every team member a fixed number of dots to distribute across ideas. The options with the most votes rise to the top — no debate required.
How to use
Enter your ideas or options in the text area — one per line. Set the number of voters and how many dots each person receives, then click Start Voting. Each voter in turn assigns their dots using the + and − buttons, then submits. Once every voter has gone, the results are shown as a ranked bar chart.
What is dot voting?
Dot voting (also called multi-voting or dotmocracy) is a lightweight prioritisation technique used in retrospectives, design sprints, and team planning sessions. Everyone gets the same number of votes and can spread them freely across the options — or put all dots on a single favourite. The aggregate reveals group consensus quickly, without long discussions.
Tips for better results
Keep the list to 5–10 options for clarity. Give voters 3–5 dots each — enough to spread preference without diluting the signal. Run voting silently, without discussion, so results reflect individual priorities rather than groupthink. Export the final ranking as text to paste into your meeting notes or ticket tracker.
