How it works

Each PDF page is rendered to a canvas at the chosen DPI, then saved as a JPEG image and embedded into a new PDF. This is the same method used by most popular online PDF compression services.

Tips

  • All processing happens locally in your browser — no files are uploaded.
  • Best results on scanned documents, photo PDFs, and image-heavy reports.
  • Text-only PDFs may actually get larger — plain text compresses far better than JPEG-encoded text.
  • 72 DPI + 50% quality gives the smallest file; 150 DPI + 85% quality retains near-print sharpness.
  • After compression, text is no longer selectable or searchable — the pages become images.
  • Supports PDF files up to 100 MB.
